THE COMPANY
The Industrial Projects division of this world-wide logistics organization offer turn-key project logistic solutions for customers operating and working in the energy, chemical, mining and power sectors. Currently, the Industrial Projects division has signed up three petro-chemical projects in Saudi Arabia from bases in Taiwan, Singapore and China. The end beneficial client is a subsidiary of Saudi Basic Industries.


THE POSITION
The Operations Director, Singapore needs to have had at least 10 years+ in the senior operations position, in a ‘relevant’ company/industry. The successful candidate must be able to control operations both for these projects and be sufficiently flexible to cope with taking over new projects, for bringing them to a successful conclusion and liaising with all of the interested parties. S/he should be experienced with moving into and between a variety of Asian cultures and have an understanding of the cross-cultural issues involved in working with people drawn from different cultures. S/he has to be able to demonstrate an ability to be both a leader, a manager, and a project manager with engineering or technical background will be the most beneficial and advantageous to undertake this role.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Understand how to work with and gain the confidence of the Senior Management of the Client Companies and agency partners;
• Able to draw up and implement new and effective systems for the projects, and it will be necessary to align those systems with the current procedures for achieving efficient and effective operations management;
• Act as and in place of the senior manager with responsibility and with respect for both people and the bottom line;
• Identify, recruit and maintain a small team with which to support and complete the projects within their area of responsibility.




CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
• 10+ years of professional experience in logistics and project management in a relevant industry; e.g. oil & gas, petro-chem, power, etc.
• Good exposure to the Middle-Eastern environment and working with companies and individuals in the market place;
• Ability to understand and be able to communicate industry contracts, regulations, and Practices;
• Proven track record interacting with EPC’s (energy, procurement and construction) and resource energy companies;
• Proven history of demonstrated excellence in leadership and people management skills;
• Ability to manage by influence across different cultures;
• Independent, driven with the ability to use initiative when taking decisions;
• Possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken English.



LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Fluency, both written and spoken, in the English language. Knowledge of other languages a plus.



EDUCATION
Degree level, relevant industry qualifications.



REMUNERATION
Singapore $200,000 (up to an additional 30% with incentive scheme) (GBP78K+)
